Prototype: German Railroad, Class Sggoorrss 700 "CargoSprinter"
Each end car is powered by two six-cylinder diesel engines with a rated maximum of 120 kph ( 75 mph ). Each car can carry RTR ( Rail To Road ) Cargo containers of sizes 20, 28, 40 or 48 feet.
Model: Märklin #37090 Powered Freight Rail Car Train
There is a single powered car ( green 'wocoshi' load ) with a Digital decoder and controlled high-efficiency propulsion. The other cab is unpowered ( red DB Cargo load) but has direction controlled headlights and a slider. The cabs must be connected for the train to operate. The consist contains three intermediate cars.
Notes: In some of the pictures below you will see that I replaced the Märklin loads with loads from Walther's with road names more familiar to Americans. I have never seen pictures of the prototype with the double stacking of the containers common in the US. This was done just to see how well the containers would stack. The pin placement on the bottom of the Walther's loads fit almost perfectly. The pins are, in some cases, fatter than the pins found on the Märklin variety and with a small knife, I was able to shave off a bit of the plastic from the pins and get a nice smooth fit. All in all, the finish of the Walther's loads are better than the ones that Märklin supplies. And at about USD $4-5 a piece, I don't mind 'weathering' them a bit. You can open the loads by removing the bottom. I intend to place small magnet on the inside against the roof. This will allow the magnet on the 7051 crane to load/unload loads. I hope.
